The system is based on the TQ401 non-contact sensor and the IQS450 signal conditioner.
Together they form a calibrated proximity measurement system in which each component
is interchangeable. The system outputs a voltage or current proportional to the distance between the sensor tip and the target (e.g., a machine shaft).
The active part of the sensor is a coil that is molded into the tip of the device and is made of Torlon® (polyamide-imide). The sensor body is made of stainless steel. In all cases, the target material must be metal. The sensor body is available with either metric or imperial threads. The TQ401 has an integral coaxial cable terminated with a self-locking micro coaxial connector. The cable can be ordered in various lengths (integral and extended).
The IQS450 signal conditioner contains a high-frequency modulator/demodulator that provides the drive signal to the sensor. This generates the necessary electromagnetic field for measuring the gap. The conditioner circuit is made of high-quality components and is mounted in an aluminum extrusion.
The TQ401 sensor can be mated to a single EA401 extension cable to effectively extend the front end. Optional enclosures, junction boxes and interconnect protectors are available for mechanical and environmental protection of the overall cable and extension cord connections.
TQ4xx based proximity measurement systems can be powered by an associated machinery monitoring system (such as VM600Mk2/VM600 modules (cards) or VibroSmart® modules) or other power sources.
The TQ401, EA401 and IQS450 form the proximity measurement system of the Meggitt vibro-meter® product line. The proximity measurement system allows non-contact measurement of relative displacements of moving machine elements.
The TQ4xx based proximity measurement systems are particularly suitable for measuring relative vibration and axial position of rotating machine shafts, such as those found in steam, gas and water turbines as well as alternators, turbo compressors and pumps.
