Tricon is a programmable and process control technology with high fault tolerance.
Provides triple modular redundant structure (TMR), three identical sub-circuits each perform independent degrees of control. There is also a dedicated hardware/software structure for "voting" on inputs and outputs.
Able to withstand harsh industrial environments.
Field installable, can be installed and repaired on-site at the module level without disturbing field wiring.
Supports up to 118 I/O modules (analog and digital) and optional communication modules. Communication modules can connect to Modbus master and slave devices, or to Foxboro and Honeywell distributed control systems (DCS), other Tricons in peer-to-peer networks, and external hosts on TCP/IP networks.
Supports remote I/O modules up to 12 kilometers away from the host.
Develop and debug control programs using Windows NT system-based programming software.
Intelligent functions in input and output modules to reduce the burden on the main processor. Each I/O module has three microprocessors. The microprocessor of the input module filters and repairs the inputs and diagnoses hardware faults on the module.
