Detailed data
HIMA F6217 8 fold analog input module
for current inputs 0/4...20 mA, voltage inputs 0...5/10 V,with safety isolation resolution 12 bits tested according to AK6/SIL3
Safety-related operation and usage precautions
The field input circuit must use shielded cables, and twisted pair cables are recommended.
If the environment from the transmitter to the module is guaranteed to be free from interference and the distance is relatively short (such as inside a cabinet), it is possible to use shielded cables or twisted pair cables for wiring. However, only shielded cables can achieve anti-interference for analog inputs.
Planning tips in ELOP II
Each input channel of the module has an analog input value and an associated channel fault bit. After activating the channel fault bit, the safety-related reaction associated with the corresponding analog input must be programmed in ELOP II.
Recommendations for using the module according to IEC 61508, SIL 3
– The power supply conductors should be locally isolated from the input and output circuits.
– Suitable grounding must be considered.
– Measures should be taken outside the module to prevent temperature rise, such as fans in the cabinet.
– Record events in a logbook for operation and maintenance purposes.

FAQ about HIMA F6217:
What are the typical failure modes of the F6217 module?
Like most industrial modules, potential failure modes include: loss of communication with the controller, signal saturation or invalid input, such as over-range or over-range conditions, module hardware failures including power supply problems, component failures, module diagnostics can usually detect these conditions before they cause system-wide failures
What are the general requirements for the installation environment of the F6217 module?
It should be installed in a well-ventilated and dry environment, avoiding installation in places with strong electromagnetic interference, high temperature, high humidity or dust. At the same time, ensure that the installation location is convenient for maintenance and repair.
How should the F6217 be configured and calibrated?
The configuration and calibration of the F6217 module usually uses HIMA's proprietary configuration tools, such as HIMax software. These tools allow users to define input types, signal ranges, and other parameters in 8 channels.
