Detailed data
GE IS200BPIAG1AEB Bridge Personality Interface Board
Product Description:
The IS200BPIA Bridge Personality Interface Board (BPIA) provides an interface between the control and power electronics of an IGBT three-phase AC drive. The interface consists of six isolated IGBT (IGBT) gate drive circuits, three isolated shunt voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) feedback circuits, and isolated VCO feedback circuits to monitor the output voltages of the DC link, VAB and VBC. Hardware phase overcurrent and IGBT desaturation fault protection is also provided on this board. Bridge control connections are made through the P1 connector. Connections to the A, B, and C phase IGBTs are made through six plug connectors. The BPIA board is mounted in a VME type rack.
Power Supplies:
There are nine isolated power supplies which are derived from the secondaries of three transformers, one for each phase. A 17.7V AC square wave input is provided to the transformer primary from the P1 connector. Two of the three relays on each transformer are half-wave rectified and filtered to provide the two isolated +15V (VCC) and -7.5V (VEE) supplies required by the upper and lower IGBT gate drive circuits. The third secondary is full-wave rectified and filtered to provide the isolated ±12V required for the shunt current and phase voltage feedback VCO and fault detection circuits. A light 5V logic supply is also generated by a 5V linear regulator located on the -12V supply.
The module drives the IGBT gate line between VCC and VEE. The upper and lower module control inputs are anti-parallel to prevent both from being turned on at the same time.
The drive circuit can generate two types of faults. When the module is commanded to turn the IGBT on, the module monitors the voltage drop between the emitter and collector of the IGBT. If this voltage exceeds approximately 10V for more than 4.2 microseconds, the module turns the IGBT off and communicates a desaturation fault. The voltage between VCC and VEE is also monitored. If this voltage drops below 18V, an undervoltage (UV) fault occurs. These two faults are ORed together and optically coupled back to the control logic.
Frequently asked questions about the product are as follows:
-What is the function of the GE IS200BPIAG1AEB Bridge Personality Interface Board?
The IS200BPIAG1AEB board serves as an interface between the control system and other hardware in the system. It supports multiple communication protocols and helps configure system connections.
-What types of devices does the IS200BPIAG1AEB interface with?
The board interfaces with a variety of external devices including: I/O modules, field devices, communication networks, control system cabinets.
-What are the troubleshooting steps if the IS200BPIAG1AEB board is not functioning properly?
Check the power supply to ensure that the board is receiving the proper voltage and that the power supply is stable. Check the connections to verify that all external connections are secure and wired correctly. Boards typically have diagnostic LEDs that indicate if the board is functioning properly. Check for any error codes or warning signals.
Make sure the board is configured correctly in the system software. Improper configuration can cause communication problems.
Damaged cables or connectors can cause communication failures or signal loss. Replace any defective components. Look for any error messages in the system log that may indicate a failure in the board or connected devices.
