EPRO PR9376/20 Hall Effect Speed/Proximity Sensor
Non-contact Hall effect sensors designed for speed or proximity measurement in critical turbomachinery applications such as steam, gas and hydraulic turbines, compressors, pumps and fans.
Functional principle:
The head of the PR 9376 is a differential sensor consisting of a half-bridge and two Hall effect sensor elements. The Hall voltage is amplified many times by means of an integrated operational amplifier. The processing of the Hall voltage is carried out digitally in a DSP. In this DSP, the difference in the Hall voltage is determined and compared with a reference value. The result of the comparison is available at a push-pull output which is short-circuit proof for a short period of time (max. 20 seconds).
If a magnetic soft or steel trigger mark moves at right angles (i.e. transversely) to the sensor, the sensor's magnetic field will be distorted, affecting the detuning of the Hall levels and the switching of the output signal. The output signal remains high or low until the leading edge of the trigger mark causes the half-bridge to be detuned in the opposite direction. The output signal is a steeply inclined voltage pulse.
Capacitive coupling of the electronics is therefore possible even at lower trigger frequencies.
Highly sophisticated electronics, hermetically sealed in a rugged stainless steel housing and the connecting cables insulated with Teflon (and, if required, with metal protective tubes), ensure safe and functional operation even in harsh industrial environments.
