Detailed data
EMERSON CSI A6120 Case Seismic Vibration Monitor
Case Seismic Vibration Monitors are used with electromechanical seismic sensors to provide high reliability for a plant's most critical rotating machinery. This 1-slot monitor is used with other CSI 6500 monitors to build a complete API 670 machinery protection monitor. Applications include steam, gas, compressors, and hydro turbines. Case measurements are common in nuclear power applications.
The main function of the chassis seismic vibration monitor is to accurately monitor chassis seismic vibration and reliably protect machinery by comparing vibration parameters with alarm set points, driving alarms and relays.
Case seismic vibration sensors, sometimes called case absolutes (not to be confused with shaft absolutes), are electrodynamic, internal spring and magnet, velocity output type sensors. Case seismic vibration monitors provide integral vibration monitoring of the bearing housing in velocity (mm/s (in/s)).
Since the sensor is mounted on the casing, the vibration of the casing can be affected by many different factors, including rotor motion, foundation and casing stiffness, blade vibration, adjacent machinery, etc.
When replacing sensors in the field, many are updating to piezoelectric type sensors that offer internal integration from acceleration to velocity. Piezoelectric type sensors are a newer type of electronic sensor as opposed to the older electromechanical sensors. Case Seismic vibration monitors are backward compatible with electromechanical sensors installed in the field.
The CSI 6500 Machinery Health Monitor is an integral part of PlantWeb® and AMS Suite. PlantWeb, combined with Ovation® and DeltaV™ process control systems, provides integrated machinery health operations. AMS Suite provides maintenance personnel with advanced predictive and performance diagnostic tools to confidently and accurately identify machine failures early.
